2023 Keogh 501 Memorial Golf Tournament
Launch the media gallery 1 playerBefore Ryan Keogh's tragic accident on May 16, 2022, he was one of the most professional and dedicated first responders the town of Atkinson had. Ryan was a Firefighter and EMT that served in every leadership role in the department, including being the Fire Chief. Ryan embodied the spirit of serving others. He continually sacrificed his time and focus to make Atkinson Fire and Rescue a standard of excellence that other departments could emulate.
Ryan knew the future of Atkinson Fire & Rescue, and all rural departments alike, rely on the youth in the surrounding communities. He had a dream of starting a Junior Firefighters/EMT cadet program. This program would help educate, train, and excite kids in hopes that someday they would return to any rural town in Nebraska and become active Firefighters and First Responders.
Ryan's family will be honoring his wish by establishing the Keogh 501 Memorial. This nonprofit organization will purchase gear and radios for Jr. Firefighters and cover cost for tuition for them to attend fire school and obtain an EMT license through Northeast Community College.
With the assistance of Atkinson Fire and Rescue, The Keogh 501 Memorial will be hosting the 1st Annual Keogh Memorial Golf tournament on Saturday, July 22, at the Atkinson Stuart Country Club at 1 p.m. with a freewill donation supper to follow at 6 p.m. There will be a limit of 27 teams, so contact ASCC early at 402-925-5330 to reserve your place.
Ryan's family would like to stress that this program will not be limited to Atkinson youth, but to any kid with a sincere interest in becoming a first responder. The community of Atkinson continues to show unwavering support to the Keogh family, so let’s help them make Ryan's dream come true.
