City Would Appreciate Cooperation From Community Regarding Snow Removal

The City of Atkinson would appreciate cooperation from the community regarding snow removal. Municipal codes state that sidewalks in the business district must be cleared of snow/ice within five (5) hours after the cessation of a storm or by 8:30 a.m. if snowfall occurs during the night. Residential sidewalks are to be cleared within twenty-four (24) hours after cessation of snowfall.

Any time there is a substantial snowfall, the City also asks that cars on residential streets be moved off the street until the street is cleared by City workers. For safety reasons, motorists should be mindful of snow removal equipment, both the City’s and that belonging to other residents.
