Press Release From Atkinson Police Department
On 5-24-23 at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Atkinson Police Department was contacted in reference to a road rage incident. The victim caller drove to the 700 block of East State Street, along with the suspect following. Atkinson Police Department Sgt. David Mincer attempted to contact the suspect driver. The suspect, when contacted by police, fled the scene, striking Sgt. Mincer with his vehicle. Sgt Mincer was taken to the hospital by the Atkinson Fire and Rescue Service with non-life-threatening injuries.
With the assistance of the Holt County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol, and Atkinson Police Department, Jacob McVay of Auburn, NE, was later arrested for the Assault of an Officer and Driving Under the Influence (DUI).
